Monthly Meeting - Tool Handles

  • 25 Jan 2017
  • 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Nevada City Elks Club, 518 Highway 49, Nevada City, CA

Tool Handles by Ed Larson

Ed will start out by turning an awl.  This simple project demonstrates all the steps required to make a tool handle.  Next he will discuss ferrules and make a ferrule from a copper pipe coupler.  He will then drill a blank, and fit the ferrule for a  1/2 inch  gouge.  Last a 3/8 inch Hosaluk handle insert  will be fitted to a blank.  The Hosaluk handle insert  allows for interchangeable gouges  to be attached to a single handle.

Monthly meetings include a display of members turned items and a raffle.  Guest and members of the public are always welcome.

A reminder:  The Elks Club serves a single entree meal for under $12 starting at 5:00.  They also have a full service bar.
